Easter Bug

Easter Bunny times four
(Iris and the Easter Bunny – 2012 / 2013 / 2014 / 2015)

This past week and a half has been pretty crazy. With last weekend being Easter, we had quite a bit going on. Hanging out with friends, family, and the Easter Bunny, of course. While the weekend was great, the start of my week took a turn when Todd and I both got hit with a nasty stomach bug. I feel like a few days of my life were erased and I’m still playing catch up… at work and at home. The good news? It’s already the weekend again and I’m feeling a million times better! I have a couple of very busy weeks ahead at work (a quick trip to Florida for a meeting) and then a long meeting I’m hosting here in town. After that though, I start counting down the days until our beach vacation. In May we’re headed back to Rosemary Beach, Florida. We’re trying to take advantage of the off-peak season prices before Iris starts kindergarten in a couple years, so we rented a cute little cottage house in walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and pools. For now though, I just need to get through the next couple weeks (and get through them without any more sickness). Fingers crossed.

Road Trip!

As mentioned in my last post, we recently hit the road to Kansas City. We escaped a dreary weekend of rain in Fayetteville and entered a gorgeous weekend of sunshine and warm temperatures just three and a half hours north. We stayed with our good pals, Seth and Ashlee who just moved into a beaaauuuutiful historic home. I informed them that I now consider it my “weekend home” (I mean, there’s more than enough room for us all). Plus, Iris has always been a good traveling buddy, but now that she’s older she’s even easier to travel with. No more diaper packing, monitor watching, or nap planning. Honestly, she’s probably less maintenance than I am on the road.

Here’s our trip in photos.

First stop: Ikea!
Where we spent over a hundred bucks on I DON’T KNOW WHAT.

“I’m Going Back to Kansas City”

Hello Kansas City.

This weekend we’re headed to one of my favorite cities – KANSAS CITY.
Only three hours away from Fayetteville, lately we don’t visit nearly as much as we should (re: since Iris was born) . We have some really good friends that live there, so it’s always a fun and easy mini-vacation for us. Since it’s #throwbackthursday and all, I dug up some old photos of our past trips to KC. For this trip though, we’re going to hit up IKEA, watch the Razorback SEC tourney game, eat, drink (my favorite beer of all time is from there), probably find a park or two, and play with Iris’ favorite set of twins.

February Roundup

February.
It was kind of a rough month. Mostly because of work and weather. Just very hectic all the way around. I’m very happy for March to have started, meaning we’re oh-so-close to SPRING! Our upcoming schedule is still busy, but mostly with fun stuff like road trips, birthdays, and March Madness (go Hogs!).

Here’s how we spent the month, accompanied by some of my favorite February Instagram photos:

+ My big, annual work meeting is always at the end of February. There’s a ton of prep and stress leading up to it, but this one was especially rough due to an ice storm that hit our location (Dallas, Texas of all places). It was the longest I’ve ever been away from Iris (five nights) and I had to give not one, but TWO presentations. We all survived though and are thankful to have another successful meeting in the books.
+ I had a big sale on Instagram. A little confession: I often justify buying Iris so many clothes because I know I can usually resell them. I sold over 60 items, with all proceeds going to our beach vacation fund for spending money. That way I won’t feel guilty about eating out every night or ordering that second mojito. Our trip is just over two months away!
+ Iris and I made heart-shaped crayons to give to her classmates for Valentine’s Day.
+ We had snow. We also had 70 degree days. I’m officially ready for more of the latter.
+ I was chosen to be a Blog Ambassador for Ezpz (a company that makes super awesome children’s plate/placemat combos).
+ Iris received a few AMAZING pieces from Vivi Jewel’s new spring line.

Ice. Snow. Roads. My worst nightmare.

I'm pretty sure this business trip is the longest I've ever been away from Iris (five nights). But now my two presentations are behind me and only one more day of meetings to go until I'm making my way back home to my family. The working mom struggle is r
