This week I’m a whopping 14 weeks pregnant. The days seem to be going a little faster now that it’s all out in the open. The first trimester was full of the unknown, excitement, and even worry. I would stress myself out thinking something was wrong, just simply because I didn’t “feel pregnant.” With the exception of a few waves of nausea and intense exhaustion, I felt like my normal old self. I’ve always been a worrier, an over-thinker, and I knew that I had to do something to change my worrying ways. Unnecessary stress was just silly and certainly not good for the little bean.
Even after reassurance from nurses and my doctor that everything was right on track, I still couldn’t relax. That is until, I spent the best 25 bucks of my life. Some people (hi, Mom) think I’m a bit crazy for doing this, but I rented a home fetal heart doppler from Stork Radio so that I can listen to the little heartbeat any time I want. At $25 per month, I can keep it until I’m ready to send it back. Even though I know there will always be things to worry about, I can at least check in on the little one any time I want. The constant 150 heart rate is currently my favorite song and I listen to it daily! I feel confidant that things are going great and that I can focus on the countdown to October.
Since now I’m really letting myself get excited, I’ve already started making a wish list. With the exception of a few vintage clothing items, I haven’t bought anything, as I’m holding out till we know if it’s a girl or boy. Still, I spend my lunch hours roaming the baby aisles and my nights searching online for sweet little somethings. Some of my faves so far are below (again, hi Mom – wink!).
