Todd, Jessica, and I drove the 4 hours up to Kansas City on Friday to meet up with friends and have some out of town fun. That night we saw Lucero, Decibully, & Blackpool Lights (the old singer of the Get Up Kids’ new band). Although the show was great, the venue was pathetic. If you wanted to drink, you had to stand in the back – in a CAGE. Then on top of that, the “bar” menu consisted of a piece of cardboard with PBR and about 3 other drinks scribbled on it. Then, of course, the “bar” ran out of drinks. So before the end of the night, the cardboard had lines drawn through just about everything. After the show we were all starrrving, so we ended up eating breakfast at 1 am. Once safe & sound back at Seth’s loft we slept till almost noon the next day.

Although it looks like a picture of a Suicide Girls flyer.. I really meant to catch the flyer underneath, which I first thought was for a metal band called:

The next day a bunch of us met up at a breezy lil pizza joint that had THE biggest slices of pizza I think I’ve ever seen. We ate every single one of them too.

From there it was on to the first casino that I’ve been to since I won enough money to buy this little iBook that I love so much. The only big winner this time was Aaron who hit the jackpot when he won 10 bucks on the penny slots. I only lost 15 dollars, but still managed to have about 2 hours worth of fun.

I didn’t think anything could be as fun as slot machines and bloody marys, but I was most definitely wrong. We headed straight out into the fields of Missouri for a Corn Maze adventure…

View from above… It’s freakin huge.

Overall, the weekend was simply spectacular.
Life is good.

Another week of madness. And by madness, I mean total awesomeness. Saturday I got off work at the very last minute, so Todd & I were able to drive up to Kansas City to attend Seth & Aaron’s party (which was to celebrate that they’ve been friends for 20 years). It was a total blast, especially since other Fayetteville friends came up as well.

Before the party the ladies took a trip to the grocery store, but got side tracked at Urban Outfitters.

Sunday morning we all met up for lunch at this place called the Flea Market. It’s an actual flea market, but is also a bar/restuarant. Apparently legend has it that a serial killer use to have a booth there and he sold weird bone jewelry. Amazing.

As for the rest of the week, I really only need to talk about one day and that’s my birthday. I turned a quarter of a century old this year, but it was seriously the best birthday ever. It all started a couple days before my birthday when I received a couple early presents. One from Kerri (a gift certifcate that I used to buy some new fancy blue jeans) and one from Todd (an Arkasas hoodie I’ve been wanting).

On my actual birthday I was delivered a vase full of flowers thanks to my dear Brandy & her fam.
Lovely!

That night Todd & I had reservations for dinner. Before hand he gave me Sims 2, which by the way is amazingly addictive. Anyways, he wouldn’t tell me where we were going, but he said it was pretty casual. I didn’t understand why you needed reservations for a casual place, but you never know.. Next thing I know he had made a wrong turn and it seemed like we were going to be late for our 7:30 reservation. Todd takes little side roads that I assume are short cuts, but before I knew it we were stopped in front of Laura & Eric’s house.

What? Laura is cooking us dinner? How incredibly sweet!

We go inside where Laura meets me with a hug & I am still a bit confused.
THEN I round the corner…
where I find a room full of friends yelling surprise!

I literally could not believe it. Everything was amazing… We had fajitas, wine, presents, & even my favorite birthday cake of all time (strawberry). Thank you to everyone who helped out with the party and to everyone who left me birthday messages. I wasn’t able to respond to them all, but each one means a lot. And a very special thanks to Laura for hosting an event that I will never forget!

Yet another busy, busy week has passed. School just about killed me with three exams and a paper due, but at least the semester is half way over and I’m looking at some A’s.

Built To Spill played on Tuesday. As much as I love them, I wasn’t exactly excited to see them since I just their show in Memphis a few months back. They still jammed quite a bit after each one of their songs, but they were good nonetheless. Jessica and I made our own fun by dancin and playing air bongos (not only did they jam, but they also strummed out a reggae-ish song).

My days also consisted of bunnies and roses. Can you get any cuter than that?

As for the weekend, Todd and I watched about 2287 episodes of Six Feet Under. Now every where I go I feel like I’m going to die in some random & tragic way. We took a break on Saturday night to meet up with friends and walk in a single file line on Dickson St. for Bikes, Blues, & BBQ. I’m glad I went, but it seriously got old after about 15 minutes.

Now it’s Sunday, the calm before the storm that is next week. I’m off to enjoy it..

So we have a few hurricane Rita evacuees staying with us till everything settles down. Todd’s dad, step-mom, and their huge poodle Louie(see above) have been here since Thursday. It took them almost 24 hours to get here from Houston. Normally it would be about a 9 hour drive. I seriously can’t even imagine.

As for this weekend…
Another Friday night that actually began Friday afternoon. Laura and I set the weekend off early at Jose’s with some girl talk right after we got off work. From there we continued down the street to the Dickson Theatre, where we met up with Cory Branan & friends. The night ended at Maxine’s just before it closed. A fun, but long evening that left me feeling a bit rough on Saturday. I took a bunch of pictures, but here are the few that survived..

I went to my very first Razorback football game on Saturday! We bought tickets at the very last minute but somehow ended up on the third row from the field. Todd and I had to walk to the stadium as soon as I got off work, so I didn’t have time to change out of my black shirt and gold dangly earrings. I was kinda disappointed that I didn’t plan ahead and wear a red shirt like every other person in the stands. However, I was ultra disappointed to see that when we got to our seats and looked out in the field that the rivalry team’s colors are, of course, BLACK and GOLD. Boo.

Now it’s Sunday… my one day off of school and work. School by the way is going great. It’s already a lot of work, but most of my classes are at least interesting. Oh and in other news, my mom and step-dad just bought a house in Memphis (they’ve decided to leave DC). It’s a big, yet cozy, old house over by Rhodes, but the best part is that it comes w/ a hot tub inside a screened-in porch. All in all I’m just excited to have my mom in my home town again.
